উল্লেখ্য, ২০১১ সালের ১৫ জানুয়ারি এক মর্মান্তিক সড়ক দূর্ঘটনায় নরসিংদী জেলা পুলিশ লাইন্স এক নির্বাচনী অনুষ্ঠানে যোগদানের উদ্দ্যেশ্যে বেলাব থানা থেকে নরসিংদী পুলিশ লাইন্সে আসার পথে ঢাকা-সিলেট মহাসড়ককের শিবপুর উপজেলার ঘাসিরদিয়া পুকুরেরপাড় নামক স্থানে একটি বেপরোয়া ট্রাকের সাথে পুলিশের পিক-আপের মুখোমুখী সংঘর্ষে ১০ জন্য পুলিশ সদস্য প্রাণ হারান।
নিহতরা হলেন, বেলাব থানার তৎকালীন ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা ফারুক আহমেদ খান (৪২), ইন্সপেক্টর (তদন্ত) জিয়াউল হক খান (৪০), এসআই কংকন কুমার মন্ডল (৪৬), কনস্টেবল কৃষ্ণকান্ত বর্মন (৪০), কনস্টেবল রিয়াজ (৩৮), কনস্টেবল বজলু (৩৪), কনস্টেবল মাসুদ পারভেজ (৩৬), কনস্টেবল নারায়ণ চন্দ (৪০), ড্রাইভার রেজাউল করিম (৩৫) ও কনস্টেবল প্রিয়তোষ (৩৬) ।
